Advice to Organisers Electronic Results

Audax UK asks you to consider submitting your results elecronically, ie, on a floppy disk, alongside the usual Results Sheet.
We are now also piloting a WWW form as another way of submitting results.
At this time, there is no direct benefit to you, the Organiser, in doing this, but it is an investment in the future, in the hope that we can eventually move to a system offering you much more direct access to AUK's Results Archive.

The best format for us is a very simple one, which can be achieved on a wide range of computers using a wide range of software.
The same format can either be saved to disk or pasted into the WWW form, and it is described below.
If you are unsure about how to get to this format, using your preferred software, please contact Francis Cooke, AUK Systems Manager francis@aukhawk.demon.co.uk, or you may find something of use in the Format Conversion Notes

However, we can now also accept a variety of other formats, anything is useful provided it is possible for us to extract the list of membership numbers we need. 2. The file that you generate should be called RESULTS.TXT , or named clearly to show which event it refers to.

3. For each event simply compile a list of the AUK membership numbers of successful riders, one per line, no commas, no quotes, and no other text in the file. Like the example below. The order, you see, is not important. Nor does the presence, or absence, of membership letters or leading zeros matter
Eg, here is a mixed-up list, but this will work OK -

0915
4272
X4273
85
W69
W1212

4. Save the list as plain ascii text (Windows Notepad is good for this) onto a 3.5" PC-formatted disk using the filename RESULTS.TXT. Please label each disk clearly with your Event Number and the number of riders listed, and enclose it with your brevet cards when you send them to AUK.
If using the WWW form, be sure to enter your Event Number, then simply Copy & Paste the entire list of numbers from your software into the WWW form, all in one go.

That's it! But now see additional notes concerning 3 special situations
BRM events
DATC events
Non-members on the finish list

a) BRM Events
For these events we are required to record the Finishing Time - that is, the elapsed riding time. So we need you to add 4 more digits to each entry - no commas, no 'h's, but leading zeroes for times below 10 hours - Eg, here is the same list as above but with some times added -

09151010
42720945
X42730945
850945
W691015
W12120930
At the end, check carefully - any errors in this list could find their way to Paris!

b) DATC Events
The DATC is a separate scheme, nothing to do with AUK, but at present they rely on AUK Results Sheets to compile their records.
So if your event is a DATC event, the organiser, Bob Kynaston, requires a Results Sheet with Names and DA information filled in, or you could participate in his electronic results procedures.

c) Non-AUK-Members on your finish list
If you give non-members the number 9999, that will help. Like this -

0915
4272
9999
9999
or this -
09151010
42720945
99991115
