The direct route uses the B6001 thro Bakewell and is 
much flatter than that given below. 
It is pleasant enough out of season and needs no description.

Leave on the B6001 towards Grindleford
Soon over river and right opposite Plough Inn.
Thro Abney,
Left at T and Left at T towards Bretton
Right at T (or go left a few yards to visit the Barrel Inn with its spectacular view)
Descend to Foolow where
Left at T signed Eyam and Right signed Wardlow.
First Right signed Buxton,
Right onto A623 and Left on lane signed Cavendish Mill.
Left at X-roads onto B6465, 
Pass the viewpoint at Monsal Head,
To Ashford where 
Left at T, Right at T onto A619, 
Immediate Left at T onto A6,
Soon Right on lane signed Over Haddon, Monyash.
Left at T signed Over Haddon.
