On the Saturday morning my hopes for a successful ride were dashed, as half expected, a short ride that morning had resulted in a terrific pain in my right knee returning.

Talking to Pottsy on the car park he told me of anti- inflammitories and to him I shall be eternally grateful, thanks Mick. With his help I soon had a couple of these wonders, thanks to Mick Hallam.

A little later two more came my way via Pat Bolton, thanks Pat and thanks to all the people, riders and helpers at the controls who kept me supplied through out Saturday and Sunday until I could buy some from Boots on Monday.

Your kindness got me through not only the 800k, which had become my goal, but also the full 1416k which became more and more achievable by balancing intake of pills and food. Thanks again.
