Audax UK events are run entirely by volunteer organisers and are only possible thanks to the work put in by them and their helpers.
Being a volunteer can be hard work. The work can vary from stamping brevet cards at controls, marshalling car parks, catering and washing up; to test riding routes and checking route sheets beforehand. The riders ride night and day, so organisers and helpers have to work round the clock too. But it’s also lots of fun. You get to be part of the adventure, even if you’re not riding your bike. So if you want to put something back into Audax UK, get in touch with your local organisers to offer your time and skills. They’ll be appreciated whether it’s just for a few hours, or for the whole event.
