Durham & Northumberland redux

200km cycling event starting from Cockerton, Darlington. Controls at Capheaton Cyclists' Cafe and Middleton-in-Teesdale.

This event has a mandatory route - you should follow the route instructions as closely as possible.

A homage to Joe Applegarth's classic 200 route taking in the northern coalfields and the hills of the leadminers, plus a visit to the famous cyclists' cafe at Capheaton. Just don't fetch along an old routesheet.

Endlessly choppy across County Durham and across the Northumbrian border, then down to the Tyne and into rolling terrain around the Tyne Valley back to Hexham, where the serious hills begin. After Folly Top, there are just a few clicks back to Cockerton.
