'Mad, Bad, Great and Good'

112km cycling event starting from Heeley, Sheffield. Controls at The Loaf Café, Crich, Newstead Abbey Café and Inkersall Green, plus 1 information control.

Visit Lord Byron's ancestral home at Newstead Abbey on this hilly loop through the hills and valleys of north Derbyshire and north Nottinghamshire. Mainly following lanes and minor roads, but with some urban riding.

The four words most associated with Byron could also be used to describe the varied nature of this 110 kilometre route - but at least it's not 'dangerous to know'! The occasional built-up stretches are regularly interspersed with lovely rural interludes, with a mixture of green fields and woods, and a traffic-free cycleway through the landscaped grounds of Newstead Abbey. Online entries open to 18.00 on 26/06. Places may be available on the day, but you must check with the organiser beforehand. GPS route file will be sent to all advance entrants who provide an email address.
