The Willy Warmer
209km cycling event starting from Chalfont St Peter. Controls at Costa Cafe, Pangbourne, Tutti Pole cafe, Hungerford and Winnersh, plus 2 information controls. A 'Ride Round Ride' mostly on quiet A and B roads across newbury downlands, just right for a short winter's day.
We kick off from the Community Centre as usual for a fast run down to Pangbourne, then onwards to Lambourn and Hungerford for Lunch at the internally renowned 'Tutti Pole' cafe. Then it's a quiet swing through the underbelly of the Newbury Downs and an easy run to the Java Cafe in Winnersh before popping on to Maidenhead and the gradual climb back to Chalfont. Light snacks available before and after included in entry fee. Riders are also welcome to stay over at the community centre on the Friday night on a 'No Mod Cons' basis (bring a sleeping bag!). We usually meet up at the White Hart in Chalfont village for a night cap before wondering back to the centre around midnight. If you'd like to stay over, drop me a line so I have an idea who to expect. RIDERS WISHING FOR THEIR VALIDATED BREVET CARD TO BE RETURNED AFTER THE EVENT MUST SUBMIT A STAMPED SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE (SSAE) TO THE EVENT ORGANISER ON ARRIVAL AT THE EVENT HQ. STAMPED ENVELOPES WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. IF YOU DO NOT REQUIRE YOUR BREVET CARD TO BE RETURNED THEN AN SSAE *IS NOT* REQUIRED. Please note the full event results, including rider names and where appropriate, the associated ACP/BRM certificate numbers required for ACP awards and PBP registration, are automatically published through the AUK website. Physical Brevet cards ARE NOT required to claim AUK/ACP awards or qualify for PBP. This approach is intended to reduce workload and costs. Thank you for your support.
