Barry's Jaeger Bomb
303km cycling event starting from Oldland Common, Bristol. Controls at Northleach, Amesbury and Barton St David, plus 4 information controls. A 300km event for the Bristol area that takes riders up onto the Cotswolds down across Salisbury Plain along the Wylye Valley then back over the Mendips. Big old stones, beautiful roads and plenty of cake.
Pass through four Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty on one ride! Barry's Jaeger Bomb returns for a third year with a new date so it can be a qualifier for those hoping to ride PBP. You'll be launched from the Oldland Common Community Centre where there is plenty of parking, bags can be left and toilets and refreshments will be available. The ride begins by taking you north and up onto the Cotswold escarpment with a climb past Dyrham Park. The 1st Control is at the Cotswolds Discovery Centre Cafe in Northleach for your 2nd breakfast. Heading south you'll visit the North Wessex Downs and pass through the ancient stone circle at Avebury. The 2nd control is a free option from Amesbury's cornucopia of food outlets. Next you'll turn west through the Cranborne Chase AONB and the Wylye Valley. 3rd Control at the Barton Inn in Barton St David for a last energy top up for the final push for home. You'll pass the Glastonbury Tor, then a haul up the longest climb of the day at Wookey delivers you onto the top of the Mendips where the finish is almost in sight. Finish control back at Oldbury Common Community Centre with plenty of sweet and savoury food, free gratis for all finishers. WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY ENTRIES ON THE DAY.
