It's A Kind of Teifi Traveller

414km cycling event starting from Aberystwyth. Controls at New Quay, Poppit Sands Beach, Llanybydder, Strata Florida Abbey, Llangurig, Machynlleth, Newtown and Builth Wells.

A 414km hilly route from Aberystwyth. Controls at New Quay, Poppit Sands Beach, Llanybydder, Strata Florida Abbey, Llangurig, Machynlleth, Newtown & Builth. A checkpoint at Devil's Staircase will provide food/wate

A variation on a couple of old classics. The ride starts by following the coast of Cardigan bay south to St. Dogmaels and then follow's the Teifi to near its source at the ruins of Strata Florida Abbey. From here, we climb over Ffair Rhos and Ysbyty Ystwyth to Devil's Bridge via the famous Arch. Main roads to Llangurig and Llanidloes soon give way to Llyn Clywedog and the Dylife Mountain Road. From Machynlleth, there is a fairly flat section to Newtown before following the A483 through Llan'dod to Builth. Those seeking accommodation might wish to look at hotels/B&Bs on this leg. After Builth, we doff caps to the Elenith and its successor with the traditional set of climbs to Tregaron. The traditional style checkpoint will be set up at the foot of the Devil's Staircase climb providing cake, hot drinks and a chance to top-up on water. Those thinking about bivvying out may wish to do so in this area. From Tregaron we take the direct main road route back to Aberystwyth where hot drinks and basic catering will be available.
