The North Pennines is a distinctive landscape of high moorland and broad upland dales in the North of England. It is one of the most remote and unspoilt places in England. The route goes across Alston Moor, Yad Moss, Middleton/Bollihope Common and Rookhope Head before descending the Allen Valley to return to Ponteland. The four main climbs are generally long but not steep and followed by long descents.
