This is not a tour 200 C
206km cycling event starting from Llandrindod. Controls at Tregaron and Machynlleth, plus 3 information controls. A spectacular ride entirely on asphalt surfaces. Passing through many small towns & villages, but retaining a sense of isolation from civilisation. ALL PROFITS FROM THIS EVENT WILL BE DONATED TO NOMINATED CHARITIES.
The ride heads south out of Llandrindod and soon picks-up a B-road to Buelah. After a short cycle along a picturesque lane cyclists will be confronted with The Devil’s Staircase – one of the most formidable climbs in Wales. The route continues along lanes to Tregaron. The route then continues through devils Bridge, crossing the A44 climbing to Nant y Moch (Stream of the Swine) Reservoir. Historians amongst us will be aware nearby is the ancient battlefield where Owain Glyndwr battled with the English. The ride then drops down to the coast road and on to Machynlleth. The return route traces east along lanes to Talerdigg, then predominantly downward route through various villages to Caersws. After a climb on quiet lanes, the route continues along the A483 following the Ithom Valley back down to Llandrindod. The route is a mixture of minor roads and lanes, B-roads and A-roads and recognised national cycle routes. The route has been designed to be traversed on road bike.
