Velos' Indian summer secret
200km cycling event starting from Llanfallteg. Controls at Llandovery, Tregaron and New Quay. A challenging ride up the Towy and down the Teifi valleys with wild spectacular deserted Cambrian mountain scenery to Tregaron, seaside fish and chips, well-established audax controls and a fast downhill finish.
New event run by the oldest Pembrokeshire cycling club, taking advantage of the end of Iron Man week and the sunny conditions that frequently prevail in September. The route takes in quiet rural Carmarthenshire roads to Carmarthen before meandering up the Towy to Llandovery. From here the road goes upwards through the deserted Cambrian mountains eventually to Tregaron, thence on the Brevet Cymru route to New Quay. Up and over then down the Teifi before a quiet hop back over to the start. This is a challenging mountainous 200 should see in autumn in style. Numerous accommodation options for those wishing to make a week of it, and decent rail connections with Whitland, Clunderwen and Narberth stations nearby giving easy access from the East or West.
