207km cycling event starting from St. Peters Square, Hammersmith W6 9AB. Controls at Potten End, Houghton Conquest and Wheathampstead, plus 1 information control. A great introduction to Audax, a ride from West London over the Chilterns towards Woburn and back via St Albans. A full days riding in glorious countryside with catered controls and a pub finish.
The event is aimed primarily at riders stepping up to 200km for the first time although experienced randonnuers are more than welcome. The start location is less than 1km from Ravenscourt Park / Stamford Brook Tube stations (District line) and 2km from Gunnersbury (overland) but limited free parking is available nearby. Some basic refreshments will be available at the first control in Potten End, with a fully catered village hall control for the halfway point at Houghton Conquest. The return leg heads south via the final, open control at Wheathampstead. The arrivee is a short distance from the start line at a riverside pub, The Ship Inn. The route takes in many quiet rural roads although the final 20km requires some navigation through busy urban areas. It's not hilly but there is some climbing, mainly confined to the passage through the Chilterns and on the return home after the final control.
