Brant and Slape
203km cycling event starting from St Herbert's, Windermere. Controls at Fell Foot Brow, Kirkby Stephen, Barnard Castle and Muker, plus 1 information control. Named after a famous Cumbrian climbing route. A very scenic tour of The Lakes, Pennines and Dales; start in Windermere, 20 mins from M6, sleeping in the hall the night before is available.
Visit the shore of Windermere, then out of The Lakes via Kendal & Kirkby Stephen. Up to the highest pub in England, then stop (for chips?) in Barnard Castle. Head home via Arkengarthdale, Swaledale, Wensleydale, Sedbergh and Crook. Includes a couple of km of adventurous riding on Sleightholme Moor Road, but rideable on normal bikes. Hilly. STOP PRESS - hall venue is changing to The Lakes Sports Pitch Pavilion. Better facilities!
