Blackpool - Glasgow - Blackpool 600
605km cycling event starting from Bispham, Lancashire. Controls at Lowther, Gretna Green, Abington, Darnley, Abington, Gretna Green and Carnforth. Late season 600 km Audax event from Lancashire to Glasgow and back, following a mixture of A + B roads. The Blackpool illuminations will be on. No EoL!
Straight out and back route! Start with a night-ride up the A6 to Carlisle, ride through southern Scotland during the day, then ride down the A6 at night. Free food at the Lowther control (106 km) included in the entry fee. Many commercial facilities, petrol stations and hotels along the route, including Abington (363 km) and Gretna Green services (441 km)! Not too hilly but not pancake flat either (apart from the first and last 50 km). Just the 1 major hill (Shap Fell) to ride over but in both directions. For those completeing the event if the BGB 600 is the only/longest BRM event ridden during 2018, they'll be able to pre-register for next year's PBP as early as 28th January 2019.
