304km cycling event starting from Bushley. Controls at Wellesbourne Airfield cafe., Turweston Airfield cafe., Chipping Norton. and Membury Services East., plus 4 information controls. A pretty route passing through Evesham Vale, N.Cotswolds, Thames Vale, Berkshire Downs & S.Cotswolds. Experienced controls. Benign route with occasional climbs.
Ideal ride to keep the legs turning-over in preparation for PBP. Ride leaves upper Severn Vale, heading northerly through Vale of Evesham for breakfast at 'Touch down' cafe at Wellesbourne airfield. Then continuing across the North Cotswolds through numerous small Warwickshire and Northamptonshire villages. A mid-morning stop at The Flying Pig cafe at Turweston airfield. Then heading back to the East edge of the Cotswolds for a lunch stop at The Old Mill - Chipping Norton. Leaving the Cotswolds to cross the Thames Valley and on to the Lambourn Downs and soon a late afternoon stop at the Membury services (Although Membury is the last official control, there are various 24-hour services en-route to arrive) Tracking the lower edges of Salisbury Plain, through Swindon (virtualy traffic-free), skirting Royal Wootton Bassett and then heading north through Cirencester, up the Coln valley to crest the Cotswolds at Seven Springs. Dropping down through Cheltenham Spa and finally once more into the upper reaches of the Severn Vale before passing through historic Tewkesbury and arrivee at Bushley. Free camping available before & after ride. Light Breakfast at start, food at finish.
