209km cycling event starting from Ingleby Barwick, Stockton on Tees. Controls at Malton and Saltburn-by-the-Sea (CatNab Cafe), plus 4 information controls. ENTRY ON THE DAY 10 quid. Subject to availability.
Ralph Cross Audax is designed to give you the flavour of the North Yorkshire Moors while being easy to navigate, and although we offer some strenuous AAA points it is not designed to be as hard as the old North Yorkshire Moors Grimpeur. 'The Chimney' is not included, but you do reach the highest point in the moors at Ralph Cross. Just before this is the Lion Inn providing some welcome 'fermented iso-tonic sports drink' in the form of local ale for those with time to stop. A quick trip to the seaside is followed by a return into the moors one last time for the final drop from Carlton Bank back into the Tees valley. The views on this ride are fantastic and present some lovely photo opportunities for those who like to write up the experience for Arrivee. This event is promoted and run by Ingleby Barwick Wheelers and Friends, a cycling group of friends from St Francis of Assisi church in Ingleby Barwick. There will be some lovely cakes baked by the Church and perhaps even some quiche. Tea and Coffee, Quiche and Cake all included in the entry fee. Entry on the day slightly more expensive. For those who want accomodation, the Sporting Lodge (near the start) have offered a special rate for riders wishing to stay nearby. Please contact the reservations team on 01642 578100 or firstname.lastname@example.org to book the following rates. Single room £50BB or a twin/double room £55BB per evening. Please quote 'Ralph Cross Audax' when booking.
