Breakfast at start and hot food at the finish. A feed station will be deployed at the End-of-the-World – spectacular views! The ride rolls out on quiet and winding Cheshire lanes, past the Lovell Telescope to Goosetry, through Vale Royal Woods and an unexpected climb to Utkinton and the Rose Farm Café control. Then fast down hill to meet the Shropshire Union and take the canal side path (very good) into central Chester where you easily waterway-hop over to Deeside and out of town across the flat lands to Mold . Lunch at Tesco. Next South and up to your Eryrys ceiling @ 355m, and across the tops to Minera, where begins the wild and remote road that circumnavigates the three great mountains, Esclusham, Eglwyseg and Ruabon. A road to be taken slowly, not just for safety, but for savour. In its progress, it is the windy moors of Esclusham, the creigiau of Eglwyseg, Offa’s Dyke, the deep and wooded World’s End Gorge, and the Llangollen Panorama, all before it passes through Penycae and gravity spits you out back on to the flat lands facing England and the afternoon control at the Plassey. The route back across Cheshire needs no further controls and is a pleasant get-you-home compromise between traffic avoidance and directness - although it has some entertainment value towards the end.
