Irish PRoFS - Summary
Thank you for your enquiry about Irish PRoFS. As requested, I enclose details of five 200km circuits: ‘Ring of Beara’, ‘Mizen/Sheep's Head’ (both based on Bantry), ‘Ring of Kerry’ and ‘Dingle Peninsula’ (based on Killarney and Tralee, both of which are accessible by train from Dublin, Cork or Rosslare), and ‘Col du Wicklow Gap’; all may be started from any point en route. These PRoFS may be ridden in a single day as Randonnees (15-30kph), but may prove more enjoyable ridden over two days at Tourist Standard.
Ring of Beara [201km]:
Bantry - Glengarriff - Garnish - Eyeries - Gortgarriff - Ardgroom - Lauragh - Kenmare - Kilgarvan - Bantry.
Mizen/Sheep's Head [207km]:
Bantry - Aghaville - Derreeny Bridge - Skibbereen - Castletownshend - Bawnlahan - Baltimore - Skibbereen - Ballydehob - Skull - Toormore - Crookhaven - Mizen Head - Dunmanus - Durrus - Ahakista - Kilcrohane - Sheep's Head - Kilcrohane - Gerahies - Bantry.
Ring of Kerry [200 km]:
Killarney - Moll's Gap - Derrendarragh - Blackwater Bridge - Sneem - Caherdaniel - Coomakesta Pass - Waterville - Ballinskelligs - Killonecaha- Ballynahow - Portmagee - Cahersiveen - Lissatinnig Bridge - Ballaghasheen Pass - Bealalaw Bridge - Killarney
Dingle Peninsula [202km]:
Tralee - Castlemaine - Milltown (alternative start) - Castlemaine - Anascaul - Dingle - Slea Head - Ballyferriter - Feohanagh - Brandon Creek (Tiduff) - Dingle - Connor Pass - Cloghane - Brandon Point - Kilcummin - Stradbally - Castlegregory - Fahamore - Castlegregory - Camp - Tralee
Col du Wicklow Gap [210km]
Loosely based on the first stage of the 1998 Tour de France, can be started from the ferry port at Dun Laoghaire or Dublin. As an alternative, you may ride over Sally Gap for a 200km ride, or may start and finish at Rosslare for a 300km ride.
