This is the 'interactive' version of the Audax UK Calendar of Events - it allows you to search for events that might interest you, in a way that's just not possible with the printed version.

If you prefer a plain format which is simply an on-screen copy of the Handbook printed pages, you can get that by checking the '3 line' option above. Alternatively, checking the '1 line' option will give a more compact list.

To view a list running further ahead than the default 4 months, you will be asked to log in as an AUK member. Non-members can however view these lists one month at a time by using the month links in the sidebar, which actually each show a 50-day window centred on the month chosen. Usually, the lists do not run past the end of the current calendar year. The following year begins to appear sometime in October.

This interactive Calendar should be very up-to-date - any revisions are uploaded usually within one day of AUK being notified. Should this online database become unavailable for any reason, you will still find links to Calendar information but it is likely to be much less current.

To speed things up, and also show only those events which might interest you, use the menus at the top of the screen to select smaller lists. (Or larger ...)

NB: - After altering any menu setting or combination of settings, you need to click on 'Show' to display the revised list of events.
If you don't alter the 'from' and 'to' date windows, your new list will just show your selection for the next 4 months.

You can also use the Find facility just type a single word, or partword, for example typing peak would find any event with 'Peak' in the title - or organised by a club with 'Peak' in their name - you can also try a Start Place, an Organiser Surname, or an Event Number if you know it. Entering the Event Number of an event you rode earlier in the season would lead you to the Results Sheet for that event.

'Updates' will show all events that have been significantly altered, relative to their entry in the AUK Handbook. That includes new events, altered dates, change of organiser details, etc. The red code in the 1st column gives some indication of what the alteration might be. The key to these red codes is in the blue sidebar to the left.
N is a new event, ie one not listed in the hardcopy Handbook/Calendar.
U is an updated event, this can be anything such as a change of entry fee, or a new address for the organiser, relative to what is in the hardcopy. Usually the detail page will include a red note to indicate exactly what has been updated.
D is an updated event, specifically a change of date.
A is an event which is unchanged but on paper the AAA (hilliness) rating has been re-calculated and adjusted, relative to what is in the hardcopy.
C is a cancelled event.

'Distance' allows you to choose just short events, or just long ones.

'Region' gives you several choices - they overlap quite a lot, so that 'borderline' locations will not be missed - instead they will be found under 2 or more regions. A 'Region' filter will always cast its net quite wide.

'Category' is mainly useful for listing AAA events only (that is, very hilly events), but it could be used in PBP year to show RM only - these would be the PBP qualifying events.

'Day' allows you to view only Saturdays, Sundays or weekdays.

You can combine these menus - eg, set Distance to 'below 200', Region to 'Wales +W', Category to 'AAA' to find short hilly events in or near Wales.

Such a list would be very short, and here is where you might want to extend the 'date window' - if you are an AUK member - by choosing say '+6 Months' in the right-hand list. You can view the whole year, past present and future, by setting the 'from' window as early as possible and the 'to' window as late as possible.

Some people with small computer monitors may have slight difficulties with the menu bar - it may get a bit untidy, but should still work OK. And the month links in the blue sidebar still work.

Click on any event in any list - that is, each 'start town' is a blue link - and you are taken to the 'detail page' for that event.

The information shown here - or in the '3 line' list view - is just the same as that shown in the hardcopy Calendar - of course, if there has been a significant change since the Calendar was printed, this will be indicated by a large U on this page - or a N would indicate a new event, for example. The key to these red codes is still in the blue sidebar.

There are also a few items which add a bit of (very non-essential) value relative to the hardcopy Calendar.

There's usually a picture of AUK's current standard medal for the distance.

The menu bar is still visible at the top, and you can still use this to display a new Calendar listing.

There's a 'see map' link which uses Google maps and attempts to show the area around the start location. It's not guaranteed - just occasionally the search engine gets it wrong, but 95% of the time you get a decent map of the right area.
The Google maps are improving all the time and now a second link has been added to show an aerial view of the start location - its just a bit of fun but can actually be useful for checking on car parks etc.
Logged-in members will also find a link which gives directions to the start - useful for estimating how far you would have to travel.

You'll find 'sunrise' and 'sunset' information - this is calculated using the event date and also the approximate location of the event - latitude and longitude - it should be within a few minutes at worst. It takes account of summer time where appropriate. Alongside this is a weather forecast link, local to the event, which is only a short-range forecast unfortunately.

Several additional items of information may be visible on the detail page, that aren't in the printed Handbook. Organisers are able to add, remove or alter these three items whenever they want.
E-mail address - the 1st copy is easy to cut-and-paste, while the 'mail' link will activate your mail program with a pre-addressed blank message to the organiser.
WWW address - this can be used by the organiser to provide a 'live link' to his or her own web page, with further information, route sheet, photos etc, about the event.
Route Sheet and GPS files - some Organisers may provide these for download.

Entry Form Links. You have 3 ways to print an entry form:
The 'Entry Form' link in the blue sidebar is a downloadable Acrobat format blank AUK entry form - right-click on the lonk and use 'Save' or 'Save As...' to download it to your computer..
The 'Entry Form' link at the foot of the event detail page is pre-filled-in for you - all you have to do is add your personal info. You can print this out just like the other one, and maybe print 1 or 2 more for your friends.
If you are an AUK member, you can use the facility below this, which requires your membership number and password, to print a fully pre-filled form which includes the event details AND your personal info. Just print it, sign it and send it - with a cheque of course!
