Dr Fosters Spring Clean

Ashleworth  207 km

New for 2009, The ride starts north of Gloucester. Similar route to Summer Saunter, with a some new lanes used in places. Few busy main roads ridden, canal tow paths used but easily rideable on your normal road bike.

A new slant on the classic 'Cardiff Byways' summer saunter. Starting from the banks of the River Severn, ride along mainly quiet lanes to the Wye Valley. Stopping at Monmouth for breakfast. Then across to the Usk Valley, after an 11's stop, it's down the Brecon Canal to Newport. Skirting around the town, over the levels for a lunch at Redwick. Then on to an afternoon tea stop at Slimbridge - via the Caldicot levels, Severn Bridge and Severn Vale. The final leg takes you up mainly quiet lanes and tow paths. As with 'Dr. Foster's Summer Saunter' there's only one major climb, and comes at about quarter distance of the ride.
