Regulation 2.1:   Audax UK associates with Audax Club Parisien (ACP) and represents ACP in the United Kingdom.

Regulation 2.2:  Audax UK associates with Les Randonneurs Mondiaux (LRM) and represents LRM in the United Kingdom.

Who are ACP and LRM and why are we affiliated to them?

Audax Club Parisien (ACP)

As you’ll have read in the History of Paris-Brest-Paris, ACP is over a hundred years old, being founded in 1904. It is, by a long way, the “senior” body in our sport, when you compare it with Audax UK which was founded in 1976.

Audax UK’s event regulations are very much based on those of ACP which can be found here (and in the original French here).

ACP also “homologates” (validates is probably a more usual English word) all the events, worldwide,  which are classed as BRM (Brevets de Randonneur Mondiaux).   These events are at set nominal distances and ACP defines the maximum time for each length of event:

200 km

13 hrs 30 min

300 km

20:00 hrs

400 km

27:00 hrs

600 km

40:00 hrs

1000 km

75:00 hrs

If you look in the AUK results tables, you will see that, for “BRM” events, there is (after a short delay) an ACP Brevet Number.  This is a unique number allocated by ACP, who have kept a record of all successful rides under these regulations, at first in handwritten ledgers and later on computer.

Les Randonneurs Mondiaux (LRM)

In 1983, after the 10th Paris-Brest-Paris randonnée,  the ACP and representatives of the countries who organized BRM created a world-wide organization named Les Randonneurs Mondiaux.

It is under the auspices of this organisation that events of 1200 km and longer are organised (labelled RM in the AUK calendar).

Audax UK riders riding BRM and RM events in other countries may apply to the Recorder to have their ride added to the AUK member records.

Both ACP and LRM’s websites have calendars of all their sanctioned events worldwide to facilitate riding in another country.  Indeed there is a special LRM award administered by AUK to promote this. See the ISR page.
